Crack Cocaine Distribution House Busted

Numerous law enforcement officers converged on a property in south Sweetwater on Wednesday and broke up a suspected crack cocaine distribution operation. The operation was the result of a joint investigation between Nolan County Sheriff’s Office, 32nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office-Criminal Investigators, Abilene Police Department–Special Operations Division, Texas Department of Public Safety and Immigrations & Customs Enforcement “ICE” — a division of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The execution of the actual raid was a combined effort involving approximately 18 officers from the agencies represented above. The raid was carried out at a residence addressed as 1110 Runnels, at the intersection of E. Oklahoma and Runnels Streets in Sweetwater. This particular address is well known to law enforcement as it has been raided in July of last year for the same type of activity.

A significant amount of suspected crack cocaine was seized along with a small quantity of marijuana, cash and other related items. Two vehicles were seized and the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office and 32nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office will be filing paperwork to seize the house at 1110 Runnels that has continually been used for this type of activity. “We hope to work with the District Attorney’s Office to seize this house and keep it from being used for this again.”
“It is time to shut this place down for good,” said Sheriff David Warren. Warren said that his office, as well as the DA’s Office, has been receiving calls and complaints from neighbors and citizens that are just simply fed up with the traffic and unsavory activity occurring at this address. "We appreciate the people in this area of Sweetwater being patient with us while we conducted our investigation and built our case. I know that sometimes citizens feel that these operations take a long time. We (law enforcement) also feel the same way at times, but we want to gather as much evidence as possible, make the very best case we can and hope for the strictest punishment that we can obtain for these drug dealers.”
A total of nine people were arrested at the 1110 Runnels address and all were charged with first degree felony — Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity. The activity engaged in is alleged to be the manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 (namely crack cocaine) and includes the possession with intent to distribute the controlled substance. If convicted, those arrested could potentially face a prison term of 5-99 years or life in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice correctional system.
Those arrested Wednesday were:
• Robert Larry “Duna” Williams, age 43, of 1110 Runnels Street, Sweetwater.
• Johnny Williams, age 48, of 1110 Runnels Street, Sweetwater.
• Clifford Errol Worsham, age 59, of 1110 Runnels Street, Sweetwater.
• Oubigee Henue Jones, age 38, of 1110 Runnels Street, Sweetwater. Jones also has an additional warrant out of Dallas County for marijuana possession (5 to 50 pounds).
• Shamar Dominique Williams, age 22, of 1423 Hughes Street, Sweetwater.
• Susan Lee Jones, age 33, of 708 Bluff, Sweetwater.
• Katelyn Alyssa Mathis, age 21, of Amarillo, Texas.
• Shinice Fontellarene Black, age 22, of 1110 Runnels Street, Sweetwater.
• Jimesha Kaye Smith, age 20, of 1110 Runnels Street, Sweetwater.
“I especially want to thank Criminal Investigators Billy Sides and Ronnie Stiltner with the 32nd DA’s Office and all of the various members of the Special Operations Division (narcotics) of Abilene Police Department. The APD officers made numerous trips over here to Sweetwater to assist with this joint investigation. I appreciate Lt. Shain Burks allowing his group to participate — they have been great to work with,” said Warren. Criminal Investigator Tim Blount, with Nolan County Sheriff’s Office, was the lead investigator for the NCSO on the case.
Sheriff Warren emphasized, “I also truly appreciate all of those citizens that helped by supplying information on these drug dealers. This is a prime example of how it should work; citizens and law enforcement working closely together to get rid of a problem.”
